Inter Cheadle 3, Cheadle & Gatley 2

Inter limped into the first round proper of the cup with an unconvincing victory over their local second division rivals.

The home side were never able to find their rhythm and Cheadle and Gatley have to take full credit for hustling Inter out of their stride and not allowing them to take control of the game.

It all started according to plan when some good work on the left hand side between Liam and Kay set up Josh at the far post for the opener on five minutes.

A tenth minute free kick by Kay pinged the underside of the bar and fell into the grateful hands of the Cheadle and Gatley 'keeper but he was virtually untroubled again for the rest of the half and the visitors regularly threatened to break through and grab an equaliser.

A great finish by Josh towards the end of the half gave the home side a 2 goal cushion at the interval but Cheadle and Gatley went straight for them at the start of the second period and got the goal they deserved when Keiran finished well from close range.

Almost immediately the home side retaliated and some great work on the left by Kay was rewarded when Luke turned in his first of the season - but Inter were still unable to push on from there and the game was always finely poised.

A second goal for Keiran came in bizarre circumstances with minutes to go but time ran out for the visitors and Inter were relieved to hear the final whistle and take their place in the next round where they face Great Moor B.
