Inter Cheadle 2, Delamere Rangers 3

Stockport Metro League Division One, Sunday, October 14th, 2007

Cheadle found themselves 3-0 down in less than twenty minutes in this First Division encounter - but finished the game feeling like they had been denied two well-earned points.

It was a sluggish start for the home side and Rangers took full advantage with a first minute goal. Ten minutes later a slick move was finished off with a neat headed goal and an even more impressive passing move gave the visitors their three goal advantage on 18 minutes and it looked like being a rout.

But Inter fought their way back and once Josh hooked the ball over the line - with some help from a brave challenge from Liam for their first goal of the game they didn't look back.

They started the second half with another scare - Rangers hitting a post after another well worked move, but then the home side enjoyed a prolonged spell of pressure triggered by a sensational goal from Kay as he accelerated past the Rangers defence down the right hand side and struck a powerful cross shot into the top corner to make it 3-2.

Delamare seemed to be knocked off their stride and Cheadle were working hard to win and maintain possession and it looked to have paid off when a through-ball from Tom P found Josh who seemed to escape the offside trap, but the whistle was blown and his goal disallowed.

Minutes later another Tom P throughball saw Kay, a defender and the 'keeper in a race to win the ball - it was a race Kay was always going to win and when he emerged from the three man challange with the ball and gleefully hooked it over the line it seemed that Cheadle had the equaliser they deserved - only for this goal to also be ruled out - the referee adjudging Kay to have won the ball unfairly.

Delamere regrouped and pushed forward to try and get some breathing space - but found the post and Flynn in top form in the Inter goal to prevent them.

When the final whistle sounded the relief from the visitors was clear to see and Inter were left to wonder how they hadn't won the game after coming back from such a desperate start.

Next match: It's cup action as Inter play host to Second Division Cheadle & Gatley
