Great
Moor B 4, Inter Cheadle 6
Stockport Metro League
Division One, Sunday, December 2nd, 2007
Inter finally rediscovered their
true form in a typical battling comeback to take the points
at Great Moor.
On a bog of a pitch, Cheadle got
off to the best possible start when a brilliant corner from
Josh was met with a powerful header from John S in the second
minute.
Great Moor threatened through
the middle and were often thwarted by the mud but their breakthrough
came midway through the half when they finished a slick move
well to level the scores.
Almost immediately, brilliant play
from the back by Brandon and John S saw 'The Dog' grab his
second with a brave finish to make it 2-1, But back came the hosts and shortly
before half time another good move through the middle allowed
them to equalise, leaving the teams level at half time.
The second half started with Inter
on the back foot and within five minutes they found themselves
behind for the first time in the match.
Five minutes later it got worse
as a calm finish from the Great Moor forward looked to have
sealed the win at 4-2.
The game was now being watched by quite a crowd as New Mills players arrived, waiting for their match with Great Moor A straight
afterwards, and what came next will have been a familiar sight
for them as they witnessed the Inter fightback.
John S grabbed his hat-trick goal
almost straight from the restart to make it 3-4, and with
a reshuffled central midfield of Tom P and Dane, Cheadle were
suddenly dictating the game. With Liam and Dan bossing the
left hand side and Tom R, Paul and Joe looking solid at the
back, Kay was tracking back superbly to help out the midfield
and there only looked like being one winner.
Sure enough the equaliser came
when John S scored his fourth of the game, a neat finish from
a Tom P throughball and when Danny was put through in similar
fashion to finish sweetly the points were in the bag.
Great Moor made a spirited fight
to grab a leveller but found the might of Kyle to stop virtually
everything and clear the danger. In goal, Flynn's superb kicking
and anticipation to clear danger was also relieving the pressure
and when John S bravely slid in to score his fifth and Cheadle's
sixth with the last kick of the game it was no more than the
boys deserved.
Next week Prestbury visit and
we're hoping for more of the same to avenge that unlucky 2-4
opening day reverse and start climbing the table.
