Inter Cheadle 1, Poynton 5
Sunday, September 2nd
2007 - friendly match
Inter Cheadle's first game
ended in defeat against arguably one of the best teams they
are likely to face next season - but the match was nowhere
near as one-sided as the scoreline suggests.

The visitors took the lead
on 9 minutes when Cheadle struggled to clear their lines and
it was two nil ten minutes later as Poynton took their early
chances and Cheadle were twarted at the other end by fine
goalkeeping.
Inter rallied and kept Poynton
at bay to go in at the break 2-0 behind and then remerged
with much more fight in the second half. After sustained pressure
it was Brandon who had the honour of scoring the club's first
ever goal as he finished off a good move.
There were chances at either
end but it looked as though the game would finish 2-1 until
the closing minutes when Poynton showed their experience to
grab two goals on the break and another from a well worked
set piece as Inter's discipline began to flag.
But there was no disgrace as
all the players acquitted themselves well in what was only
their second 11-a-side match since the season ended nearly
five months ago.
Next match: Prestbury (away) Metro
League Division One, Sunday September 9th
